Claudia & Chris' Big Day

Claudia grew up in Pulborough, West Sussex and Chris in Brentwood, Essex and met through work in London.
On Claudia’s 30th birthday, Chris took her to Brighton for the day, one of her favourite places. Despite the drizzle they took a stroll along the pier and on the beach. It was there that he dropped to one knee, produced a platinum ring with a 1 carat princess cut solitaire diamond and proposed!

I hunted high and low for my gown, but finally found it at White mischief Bridal. I tried on a few different styles, but everything was either too plain or way to fussy! Until I came across Connie, by Augusta Jones; A strapless, lace A-line gown, with sparkles all over. It flattered my figure perfectly and I felt amazing in it as soon as I put it on!

My shoes were probably the best find of all. I'd been checking out all the obvious places (wedding shops, John Lewis etc) but wasn't having much success finding shoes. It was then when I was out shopping with a friend and we were in Next that I found my shoes - they were perfect.

I had a chapel length veil trimmed in the same lace detailing as on my wedding dress by Augusta Jones. It had sparkles to match the gown. I loved how you could match them perfectly.

My mother kindly lent me her sapphire and diamond earrings for the big day - there were my something old (a 21st birthday present from her parents), borrowed and blue. I wore my late grandmother's platinum eternity ring on my right ring finger along with my engagement ring. As I had had the gemstone belt added to the dress I didn't have a necklace and was too worried about snagging the lace on my dress to wear a bracelet.

I had a hoop skirt for under my dress, I found it helped the skirt keep shape and definitely made it easier to walk. I had bought an ivory pashmina (Jasper Conran at Debenhams) for the evening but found the excitement and adrenaline meant I didn't need it.

Our wedding ceremony was held at St. Mary's Church in Pulborough, the same church where my parents were married and both my sister and I were christened. The reception was held at my parents' house, also in Pulborough, we had a marquee in the garden.

Jo Stevens of Peek-a-boo cakes made the cake. We had a 3-tier cake, with a cutting cake to boost servings, in ivory with lace and blue ribbon. 2 layers were carrot cake and one layer and the cutting cake were lemon. Both were delectable and all our guests commented on how lovely it was.

We didn't opt for traditional favours. Instead we had a sweetie table with old-fashioned blue and white striped bags so that guests could create their own pick and mix to take home.

Our first dance was Lucky by Jason Mraz featuring Colbie Caillat. It was so romantic!

Leela Bennett was our photographer. After a long google search I had found a few photographers websites whose style I felt matched what we were looking for from the day. I arranged a few meetings and the minute we met Leela I knew she was the one for us; wonderful personality and very professional. Her portfolio was full of reportage pictures that really captured the details and feel of the day, which is exactly what we were looking for.

Overall everything was absolutely wonderful and I would do it all over again in a second!

The advice I would give to any bride is; don’t forget that your big day is all about the love that you and your husband share for each other and as long as you remember that, you will be the happiest woman in the world!
